The Idea:

Many people get shivers down their spines when they see a long block of text. When it comes to cooking, keeping track of lengthy recipes with paragraphs of instructions can quickly become frustrating and confusing. Important steps get buried in the text, and it becomes easy to lose track of where you are in the process. To solve this problem, I transformed a WordPress blog into a cookbook-style web app that stores recipes in a much clearer and more structured way.

Instead of presenting instructions as dense paragraphs, each step of a recipe is placed on a new line. This simple structure creates a clean overview and makes it easy to follow along while cooking. At any moment, you can quickly see which step you are currently on without having to reread the entire recipe. The web app serves as a personal recipe collection that helps me remember both the ingredients and the precise sequence of actions needed to produce tasty food.

A challenge:

The idea behind this project came from the programming world. While working with code, I noticed a strong similarity between writing a program and writing a recipe. Both involve a sequence of clear, logical steps that must be followed in the right order to achieve a successful result. Inspired by this connection, I began simplifying recipes in the same way programmers simplify instructions—by reducing them to the most essential actions.

By stripping recipes down to their bare minimum steps, I was able to build a set of fundamental cooking instructions that are easier to read and execute. As I continue adding new recipes to the system, the project also becomes a kind of experiment. Each new dish tests whether the structure works universally or whether certain recipes reveal missing steps or instructions that are difficult to translate into this simplified format. Over time, the cookbook evolves as both a practical tool and a way to rethink how recipes can be written and understood.
